Turin
Torino World Design Capital 2008
Interior Motives has chosen Turin to host the Interior Motives Design Conference 2008.
Nicknamed the automobile capital of Italy, Turin is a dynamic city engaged in a
modernisation process unrivalled in southern Europe. This redevelopment has
established the city as a centre of advanced technology, research, and integrated
production systems, firmly at the centre of a high-tech Europe.
Two projects of major importance are currently underway that will radically
change the shape of the town. One is the Spina, which includes the doubling
of a major railroad crossing the town. The other is the subway line based on
the VAL system, known as Metrorino.
The city is home to the Lingotto building, at one time the largest car factory
in the world. It now houses a convention centre, a concert hall, an art gallery,
a shopping centre and a hotel.
Framed by the Alpine peaks, Turin boasts a great wealth of architecture, museums,
parks, gardens and has the unique attribute of having four rivers crossing it -
the Po, Doura, Stura and Sangone. All this adds up to scenic cultural centre that
few cities in the world can match.
Turin, the perfect city for enjoying business.
